Consumed by Bliss

“This was drawn from the photo of a male model where his neck caught my attention - to me, its structural nature incorporated elements of attractive rigidity and softness simultaneously, which reminded me of a mountain range covered in snow and the same dynamic which exists between rigidity and softness when observing such spectacular landscapes. The neck is also a physiological location of intimacy and vulnerability, which - when combined with the expression of bliss conveyed by both his lip movements and cheek structures - felt to me like a beautiful image to portray through some of my favourite mediums of conté, graphite and charcoal.”
