Beauty in Vulnerability

“I used conté, graphite and charcoal to gradually build up interconnecting shapes of neutral tones to portray the fluidity and form of the male torso in a physically open position of vulnerability… From the initial creation and sketching process, I also chose to leave the graphite lines, some rough edges and smudging in the piece to further represent in literal material terms the potential beauty of imperfections which cannot be achieved without embracing one’s own vulnerability”

Conté, graphite and charcoal on paper, 18.5x18.5cm, 2024
